Study strengthens evidence that early marijuana use increases risk of psychosis.
- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigate the effect of marijuana use on developing psychosis among teenagers. The researchers evaluated studies that compared rates of psychosis in patients who formerly used marijuana, alcohol, and other drugs with those who did not. Results of the study show that a first episode of psychosis happened nearly three years earlier in people who used marijuana than people who did not use marijuana, and alcohol use did not affect age of onset of psychosis.
