- Abstract
A study published in Digestive Endoscopy by Tang et al. examined the effectiveness of an aspiration and coagulation (AC) technique in reducing postoperative bleeding in patients who underwent gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). The study included 280 patients in the AC group and 516 patients in the control group. The AC group showed significantly lower rates of massive hemorrhage and overall postoperative bleeding compared to the control group. The study highlights the importance of managing postoperative bleeding, which can have serious consequences for patient outcomes. Various prophylactic approaches, such as medication and targeting post-ESD ulcers, are being researched to prevent postoperative bleeding. However, further research, including prospective studies, is needed to address this challenge.
