The author discusses aspects of the control to the descending signals from the brainstem as a sign of stretch reflex. Topics include the movement-sensing sensory system on spinal stretch receptors (SSRs), activity of reticulospinal neurons (RSNs) in the brainstem, and activation in the spinal cord. Information regarding the spinal locomotor network of the lamprey is also provided.
