- Authors
Dueck, Jennifer M.
- Abstract
The article examines the role of Islam in the formation and evolution of a Muslim scout movement in Lebanon under the French Mandate. It is stated that the French administration's aim to use scouting for the expansion of French culture and politics in Lebanon came into conflict with Lebanese leaders as they imbued their own ideas in scouting which opposed French interests. A discussion is made about the response of France to the ideological concepts adopted by scouts in Lebanon.
