The article presents a string of text message communication between an Australian girl and a girl who moved from Great Britain to New Zealand (NZ) in order to document and analyze the New Zealander's English language accent change. Topics include vowel and diphthong shifts, the application of communication accommodation and second language acquisition theories, and the impact of social identity on accent change.
