- Abstract
The article discusses a topic related to employing critical perspectives for the improvement of outreach to low-socioeconomic status (SES) African-American and Latino students with their parents in the U.S. It states that access to American higher education is increasingly marginalized. According to the article, a paradigm shift must be taken place in order to increase parent involvement in college choice for low-SES African-American and Latino parents. In addition, it discourses regional collectives established for the public and the Carnegie classification levels of nonprofits, degree granting and higher education.
