- Title
Myths of Podiatric Biomechanics.
- Authors
Issacs, Robert
- Abstract
The article discusses the myths regarding podiatric biomechanics in Great Britain. It cites one of the myths stating that foot functions best in sub talar neutral, but it mentions that the body must exert huge muscular effort for the foot to be in sub talar neutral in relaxed stance. Another myth is about insoles that hold the foot in sub talar neutral, but it states that it would be true if the insole was screwed directly to the bones of the foot. Also, pronation is said to be bad, but it notes that it is useful and important movement that allows shock absorption. Moreover, it states that over pronation is also bad, but it argues that there is no evidence to show that it is true.
