This anecdotal essay focuses on the author's experience of homecoming by making a habit of collecting vernacular photographs, popularly known as "still-specters" in Turkish, in his regular visits to the Cebeci Flea-market. During this period of collecting, he developed an understanding that flea markets could be thought unofficial-historical memory-places as complementary to the official history of any society.
