- Abstract
The article discusses the midlife crisis of the 18th century French poet and magistrate Jean-Jacques Le Franc de Pompignan, often referencing his literature and poetry to examine this phenomenon. An overview of his attitudinal change towards morality, including in regard to morality in theatre and his creation of the operatic genre referred to as the moral opera, is provided.
