The author reflects on the use of managerialism as a paradigm that guides management theory and practice. Topics discussed include the nature of ideologies, the use of managerialism to guide the conduct of the service sector, and the capabilities and constraints of managerialism in business schools. Also mentioned are the importance of managerialism to promote sustainability and the guidance for postmodern industry and globalization.
