- Title
Vocal Cord Dysfunction: An Important Differential Diagnosis of Bronchial Asthma.
- Authors
Kenn, Klaus; Hess, Markus M.
- Abstract
The article provides information on vocal cord dysfunction (VCD) as an important differential diagnosis of bronchial asthma. It states that the etiology of VCD is unclear and its clinical manifestations can mimic those of bronchial asthma. It notes that experts may have problems in reaching conclusions for patients who suffered for years from VCD, with simultaneous bronchial asthma. According to the author, the patient can lose his fear of suffocation and master breathing techniques to alleviate the symptoms if he has some knowledge of the disease. Collaborative research between different disciplines is needed to increase the knowledge of VCD.
