- Abstract
The relevance of the learning environment research can be found in its influence on the human behavior. The scholar learning environment is defined in terms of the shared environment perceptions between students and teachers, involving the different relationships developed among them. The learning environment modifications respond to the needs of the new teaching/learning strategies. There has been some classroom redesign intended to improve the teaching-learning process in physics education. This report presents the evolution of the traditional learning environments to the student centered learning environments. In example, we present the SCALE-UP environment which has shown improvements in the physics students' learning; it has been replicated in several universities, including a Mexican one. Even though students and teachers recognize the active learning strategies can be implemented in a traditional classroom, the environment generated in a student centered classroom changes the dynamics.
