- Abstract
In this paper we present the results of the process of adaptation and validation of a questionnaire to measure attitudes toward physics (SAP), which can be used by teachers and latinamerican researchers to study and improve the teaching and learning of physics in higher education. The questionnaire was administered to a sample of 206 engineering students from the city of Santiago, Chile. The adaptation and validation process comprised the following steps: (1) Translation and adaptation of the scale; (2) General statistical analysis; (3) Analysis of items; (4) Study of reliability; (5) Factor Analysis. The results show excellent psychometric properties. The reliability of the full scale, measured by Cronbach's alpha coefficient, reaches the value 0.942. The principal components factor analysis suggests the existence of four dimensions that explain 52.763% of the variance. In conclusion, it is established that the scale meets the criteria of reliability and validity of a quality scale to measure attitudes toward physics in higher education students.
