- Title
Report of the Treasurer.
- Abstract
The article presents a report from the treasurer of the American Economic Association (AEA). There was an operating surplus of over a million dollars for 2006, a slight decline from the amount for 2005. Sources of revenue for the 2007 budget include institutional subscriber fees, advertising and mailing list sales, and license fees from EconLit, the AEA's electronic bibliography. The AEA had overcome an operating deficit in the 1990s, but investment returns were not sufficient to cover losses in 2001 and 2002. The cost of library subscriptions to AEA journals increased while member dues remained constant. The company portfolio is invested in Vanguard mutual funds.
