- Abstract
The article "Reconstructing Privacy: Remarks on Life After Privacy" by Paul Showler discusses the concept of privacy in the context of our confessional culture. Showler raises questions about the exercise of power within this culture and challenges the normative implications drawn from it. The article also explores the historical continuity of privacy and its transformation over time. Showler critiques standard conceptions of privacy, arguing against the atomistic view of the subject and the idea that privacy is necessary for democratic flourishing. However, he suggests that a viable version of the public-private distinction can still be developed.
