- Abstract
The tricholemmoma is a benign tumor of cells that differentiate from the outer root sheath of the hair follicle. It is rare in dogs and cats, occurring in animals between five to 13 years old. Among dogs, Afghan Hounds seem to be predisposed. The tumors range from 1 to 7 cm and appear as circumscribed and firm nodules, usually in the head and neck. This study aimed to report the case of an animal treated at the Veterinary Hospital School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science of the Federal University of Goiás (HV/ EVZ-UFG) with a nodule in the ventral thoracic region which was referred to histopathology whose microscopic findings were consistent with tricholemmoma.
