- Abstract
The glasses from Seljukian era, unearthed during the prolonged Kubad Abad excavations, can be classified into two main groups, which are window glasses and utility items. In this article, the pieces of goblets that were found in the excavations between the years 2005 and 2010 have been examined. Processes of offhand technique and blow molding technique were used as the production techniques. The bases of goblets were produced by using fiber wrapping and enfolding techniques. The colours of them are colourless transparent, colourless greenish, colourless bright green, bluish and bright blue. The pieces examined have two different forms of barrel type and reversed conic type. Barrel type goblets have a form in which the body is similar to the barrel. The brims are protruding and leaning to one side. The base parts of these types of goblets are formed through the fiber wrapping technique. On the other hand, in the reversed conic types goblets widen upwards from the base to the body in the way of a reversed conic. Goblets with reversed conic type can be classified into three subgroups as reversed conic bodies with extroversive edge, reversed conic bodies with spirals and lastly reversed conic bodies with a stemmed-base. Some ornamentations were made on the goblets found between the years 2005 and 2010 by using fiber wrapping, molding and enamelling. A bird figure was engraved on one of these goblets which were adorned with the enamelling technique. The goblets that have been examined in this article parallel those found in Kubad-Abad in previous seasons in terms of the general features and can be traced back to (XIII)13th century like the others.
