- Abstract
Derviş Pasha, one of the significant but less known poets, has obtained a deserved place among the other poets writing mesnevi by the pure and fluent style in his mesnevi called Murad-name. The leading feature of the the poet's style which makes it fluent and remembered is his knowledge of Turkish. The poet knows very well the sound features of that language. He chooses the symphonious words aspect of the sound and the meaning and catches a harmony evoking a song melody with these words. The harmony supplied with the melody is supported with the verbal arts. The poet makes a harmony by reusing the words unary, dual or ternary sometimes in the begining of the line, sometimes in the middle of the line and sometimes at the end of the line. Harmony is sometimes continued with the word-repeats of the text. Murad-name has the appearance of an important mesnevi with the coherent unity of those sound and word repeats in point of the arts on sound and harmony.
