- Abstract
The article reports on the use of digital photography identification to document a nonpermanent nick on the dorsal fin of a bottlenose dolphin off the east coast of Scotland. Topics discussed include the common marks seen on the bodies of bottlenose dolphins, the impact of digital photography on marine mammal identification and the possible explanations for the nick appearing and disappearing within the same day of documentation.
