- Authors

- Abstract
This article proposes six classes that instructors can teach on nonprofit economic significance, history and governance for more complete integration into the business ethics or governance curriculum. The key elements of a nonprofit governance framework are fiduciary duty, mission and financial accountability. Together, these elements fulfill the public trust and satisfy stakeholders. Readings, cases, films, discussion questions and student assignments suggested in this article provide nonprofit and forprofit comparisons. They also address current governance issues: the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Director and Officer compensation and the blurring of nonprofit and for-profit distinctions. Teaching nonprofit ethics enriches the business ethics or governance curriculum and helps prepare students for ethical managerial decision-making.
