- Authors
Gibbens, Nigel; Locke, Harvey
- Abstract
The article focuses on the plan of the British Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to harmonise its pet movement rules across the European Union (EU) from January 1, 2012. It notes that the rule changes present an opportunity to provide a beter way of managing the risk of rabies. It points out that the effective use of vaccine has led to a decline in the incidence of rabies in the EU and other countries. It cites the requirements facing pets entering Great Britain.
