- Abstract
The article offers insights on a lost cage cup fragment from the Bartholdy Collection in Rome, Italy. Particular focus is given to how, according to the author, cage cups were the most outstanding vessels among ancient Roman glasses. Additional topics discussed include how cage cups were owned by the Prussian diplomat Jakob Ludwig Salomon Bartholdy, a drawing of the cage cup fragment by Carlo Ruspi in about 1820, and how many of the items in the Bartholdy Collection were acquired by the Antikensammlung Berlin in 1827.
