- Title
SAY AAH! MARYLAND V. KING DEFINES REASONABLE STANDARD FOR DNA SEARCHES.
- Authors
Deitrich, Lauren
- Abstract
The author argues that various American states will follow Maryland's lead and enact legislation that will enable law enforcement officials to pursue DNA-related searches as an extension of accepted police booking procedures in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in the case Maryland v. King which deals with the constitutionality of the Maryland DNA Collection Act. The Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is examined, along with a reasonableness standard for DNA searches.
