- Abstract
This document summarizes the results of a survey conducted among European thoracic surgeons regarding their preferences for surgical approaches in early-stage lung cancer. The majority of surgeons preferred minimally invasive approaches, such as video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), and valued the experience of the surgeon and center with the procedure. Surgeons had varying preferences for the extent of resection based on tumor size and location, with segmentectomy favored for smaller tumors and lobectomy preferred for larger tumors. The survey also explored preferences for lymph node dissection and other factors. The authors caution that the survey results should not be seen as standard of care, but rather as a reflection of current perceptions.
