- Abstract
In the article, the author discusses practical demonology and protestant doctrines in witchcraft confessions in Scotland by citing the confessions of Janet Barker during her witchcraft trial in Edinburgh in December 1643. Also cited are the practical demonological concepts like demonic sex, pact with the Devil, and the Devil's mark that were used by the courts to prosecute accused witches, and the works of witchcraft historian Christina Larner.
