- Abstract
The authors present insights on opportunities that can improve decision-making about opioid prescribing among physicians in the U.S. Topics discussed include the increase in morbidity and mortality associated with prescription of opioids, the effectiveness of opioids for treating pain compared with other groups of analgesics, and the Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMP) established by 49 states in the country.
