- Abstract
The article presents a study which discussed how sleep enhances interleukin-6 (IL-6) trans-signaling in humans. Sleep is usually considered to support immune defense. The underlying sleep-immune interaction seems to critically rely on cytokines, such as IL-6. Plasma soluble IL-6 receptor were significantly elevated during nocturnal sleep in contrast to the circadian regulation of mIL-6R.
