The article reflects on the musical works of English composer and organist Herbert Howells. It highlights the influence of Scottish ballad writer Patrick Spens on the musical work of Howell's. The significant work of Howell's in reviving the literary form of Spen's literary form through creation of choral music, orchestra and baritone solo is also included.
