- Abstract
The article profiles Ulla Werbrouck, an Olympic and European women's judo champion from Belgium. At the 1996 Summer Olympics, she won the gold medal in the women's half-heavyweight category. Werbrouck retired from competition judo on the final day of the 2002 Wuppertal German World Open. Her international career started in 1987 when she won a silver medal at the Junior German Open at Hamm and culminated in spectacular style with the 72 kgs Olympic title in Atlanta, Georgia. She retires as the current 70 kgs European champion and since 1994 had accumulated seven European light heavyweight titles.
