- Abstract
The article discusses various articles published in the issue. The first two articles in the issue addresses aspects of race in schools. of the U.S. Jeffrey M.R. Duncan-Andrade explores Chicano education, whereas Kim A. Case and Annette Hemmings look at White female teacher-education students' attitudes about race. Duncan-Andrade explores the colonial history of Chicanos as it relates to their performance in school, using a critical theory approach. In an interesting case study, Case and Hemmings look at White, female, teacher-education students' responses to an antiracist teacher education course. The students were resistant, the authors argue, in part because they viewed themselves as the target of accusations of racism. Case and Hemmings offer suggestions on how to provide a more engaging curriculum for White female participants in such courses.
