- Abstract
The article presents the views of the author of the article on making primary research materials on cell biology, accessible to general public. The public and public interests pays for the research materials. Therefore, they should be able to use it also. The government of the United States and the major funding agencies worldwide have agreed to this notion. The National Institute of Health has started asking its funded researchers to deposit their work in public databases. Institutions like the Wellcome Trust and Howard Hughes Corp. have enacted policies supporting open access to the scientific literature.
