Title
Global textile fiber production more than 70 million tons.
Abstract
In 2005 Saurer AG, Winterthur/Switzerland estimated an increase of the global textile fiber production of 2.2% to 70.1 million tons (Fig. 1). Natural fibers have enjoyed favorable conditions in demand, while man-made fibers did not manage to surpass the production level of 2004. Other natural fibers (kapok, ramie, flax, hemp, jute, sisal, coir) remained unchanged at 5.7 million tons.
