- Title
TRADING PARTNERS: THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY IN LATIN AMERICA.
- Authors
Thiry, Maria C.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the textile industry in Latin America. According to Stewart Little of the Unifi Inc., a synthetic yarn manufacturer, the textile industry in Latin America is in struggle and it is not just a U.S. phenomenon because it is suffering from retailer consolidation and over capacity. He also notes that the U.S. market is very essential to Latin America because almost 50 percent of the growth in the textile imports into the United States between 1995-2000 came from Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean.
