- Abstract
A literary criticism of the presence of language and comic violence in the play "The Comedy of Errors," William Shakespeare is presented. It observes the play's combination and transformation of elements of the plays "Menaechmi" and "Amphitryo," by Plautus. It also explores the role of slaves in violence portrayed by the play. The connection of comic and tragicomic violence with money and debt shows by the play is discussed.
