Is latex allergy still a problem?
- Authors
Clarke, Ann
- Abstract
The article offers helpful advice for addressing the latex allergy problem in the practice of dental care professionals (DCPs) to prevent health risks due to natural rubber latex (NRL) protein exposure. Topics include avoidance of things that contain latex such as gloves, endodontic stops and prophylaxis cups and using powder-free, low-protein, single-use latex gloves. Also mentioned are treating NRL-sensitised patients in a latex-free environment to avoid asthma, dermatitis and anaphylaxis.
