- Abstract
El concepto de calidad de vida resulta fundamental a la hora de guiar, implementar y evaluar los apoyos, las prácticas profesionales y las estrategias organizacionales dirigidas a las personas con discapacidad intelectual (DI). Sin embargo, aquellas que además presentan Trastornos del Espectro del Autismo (TEA) no cuentan aún, ni en el ámbito nacional, ni internacional, con una escala que permita evaluar resultados personales en calidad de vida de forma adaptada a sus particularidades y necesidades específicas. El objetivo de esta comunicación es presentar un instrumento que permite evaluar la calidad de vida de niños y jóvenes con discapacidad intelectual y TEA. Se utilizó la versión piloto de la Escala KidsLife, dirigida a niños y jóvenes con discapacidad intelectual. Esta versión cuenta con 156 ítems divididos en ocho dimensiones de calidad de vida: bienestar emocional, bienestar físico, bienestar material, relaciones interpersonales, inclusión social, derechos, desarrollo personal y autodeterminación. La escala es cumplimentada por informadores que conocen bien a la persona y tienen la oportunidad de observarla en diferentes momentos y contextos. La muestra del estudio está compuesta por 420 participantes con TEA y DI de entre 4 y 21 años, provenientes de 78 centros de toda España. La conceptualización de calidad de vida formada por ocho dimensiones aplicada a personas con TEA cuenta con evidencias de fiabilidad y validez adecuadas. Los análisis realizados dieron lugar a una operativización diferente de cada dimensión con respecto a la KidsLife original y permitieron seleccionar los 96 ítems que conforman la nueva escala KidsLife-TEA. La escala KidsLife-TEA permite obtener un perfil de calidad de vida de la persona evaluada y diseñar prácticas basadas en la evidencia dirigidas a mejorar la calidad de vida de niños y jóvenes con DI y TEA.
