- Abstract
Today, concepts such as global warming and melting of glaciers, waste damage to the environment, destructive damage caused by individuals forming society to nature have been examined and seen as important concepts in demonstrating the consciousness of society to environmental sensitivity. The main idea of the present study is to determine whether there is a relationship between environmental consciousness and environmental commitment. In this context, the survey technique was used to collect data related to the research. Due to the research covering the months of "May-June-July and August" in 2020 and the Covid 19 pandemic that swept the whole world, individuals were reached through digital media. Survey questions are prepared on the google forum site and sent to the participants. A total of 208 people contributed to the research. The auxiliary objectives developed within the scope of the research were to determine whether environmental consciousness and environmental commitment differ in terms of variables such as gender, age, income level and education level. In normality tests, non-parametric difference tests were used because the data did not show normal distribution. In the scope of the study, a moderately significant and positive relationship between environmental consciousness and environmental commitment was found. It was also found that environmental consciousness differs according to age variable, and environmental consciousness and environmental commitment differ according to income state. Other findings found that environmental consciousness and environmental commitment did not differ by gender, while environmental commitment did not differ by income level. Finally, it was revealed that environmental consciousness and environmental commitment do not differ according to the level of Education. The findings supported within the scope of the study are thought to contribute to the gap in the literature.
