- Title
INSTRUMENTAL INSEMINATION OF HONEY BEE QUEENS.
- Abstract
The article discusses the instrumental insemination of honey bee queens. Instrumental insemination has a high rate of success as long as proper techniques, queen care and beekeeping methods are implemented. A review of studies related to instrumentally inseminated queens (llQ) and naturally mated queens (NMQ), as well as the factors that affect queen performance, is presented. Semen collection, field dissection of the spermatheca and the eversion of the drone endophallus are also discussed.
