- Authors
Grether, E. T.
- Abstract
The article reports on marketing laws in the United States, with a specific focus on pricing law and legislation in individual states. Fair trade laws, laws against below cost selling and anti-price discrimination laws are reportedly being passed in many states. Most of these laws have been passed since 1939 and some have been met with court challenges. The U.S. Department of Justice's work in anti-trust law and price fixing law is noted. An overall movement towards increasing competition and laissez-faire economic policy is noted; however, price fixing in government agencies is increasing.
