- Authors
TORRES, Alberto HERRANZ
- Abstract
The article discusses two territorial charters: The San Martín de la Vega town charter of 1443, which set forth the conditions of residence in that town, and the Batres residential charter of 1500, which established Batres as part of the the territory and city of Segovia. The article describes the contents of the San Martín de la Vega charter, including limits on the size of new housing, temporary tax exemptions for new residents, and agricultural land use. It explains that the Batres charter was designed in part to thwart the territorial interests of the marquises of Moya.
