The article explores the history of environmental justice and injustice in Spartanburg, South Carolina, during the twentieth century. Topics explored include the fact that the city has two superfund sites in African American neighborhoods, other industrial and hazardous waste sites, and Harold Mitchell, founder of the environmental justice group Re-Genesis.
