- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 57-year-old man diagnosed with acute hepatitis caused by using a valerian-containing remedy. The patient presented with jaundice, loss of appetite and minor generalised abdominal discomfort. He was found to have used a cold and flu remedy containing valerian one month before presentation. The patient was treated with prednisolone, which resulted in clinical improvement. A discussion on valerian-associated hepatotoxicity is provided.
