- Abstract
Their use of cigarettes, in addition to causing dependence, is a preventable cause of death and morbidity, since users identify all the risks they suffer in relation to health, however, they do not cease their consumption. Since the implementation of the National Tobacco Control Program (PNCT), awareness has been worked in all age groups regarding the use of tobacco and the damage that it causes to health. Objective: To analyze the factors associated with smoking cessation in subjects who do and do not follow up by the health service. Method: This was a cross-sectional study, with descriptive scope and quantitative approach, which compared a group of subjects who had and did not undergo treatment. In view of the results, the cessation profile is significant, the socio-cultural and socio-economic factors are outside the Brazilian parameters. More than half of the interviewees associate health with the influence to stop, with a percentage of 90.5% in both groups. Most of the interviewees have a complete education level. There was an association with females with cases with accompanying treatment. Both groups identify existing pathologies related to addiction. There was a need for more health education in relation to adherence to treatment, relating the subjects' listening and availability, so that professionals can be open to reaching these people, being responsible for understanding and identifying the weaknesses of the groups. The profile found may not be the predominant one, thus requiring more interventions and expansion so that the population can know the benefits of the Policy.
