- Abstract
The Spanish National Geographic Institute (IGN) and the Center of National Geographic Information (CNIG) have developed a set of web applications for the visualization of thematic cartography. They are specific web applications for each type of information: Saint James' Way in Europe, information about nature, culture and leisure time and the National Parks of Spain. The singularity of these web applications is the concept of hypermedia collaborative cartography. They are collaborative because they are based on a collaboration plan between official producers of thematic information with a spatial component, and the IGN and CNIG, as agents centralizing and publishing data. They are also hypermedia, as the thematic data redirects to the web page of the collaborating organization where the rest of the multimedia information is stored. Each web application becomes a meeting point of federations and organizations from different fields. It centralizes, represents and publishes data through a viewer over official cartography to the general public.
