- Abstract
The article looks into the state of supportive housing for GLBT elders in the U.S. Housing is a critical issue in the context of provision of supportive services wherein older gay men and lesbians have struggled to come out and live openly in a frequently hostile environment. Significantly, GLBT communities have become cognizant of the issues affecting their elders, resulting in dozen of surveys of the needs of older GLBT individuals in general, often framed around housing and future healthcare needs in particular. Housing projects for GLBT elders have been made wherein it has been spearheaded by various organizations like RainbowVision, the Gay and Lesbian Elder Housing, and Openhouse.
