THE ROOT G-R-A IN THE BIBLE: THE CASE OF THE DAUGHTERS OF ZELOPHEHAD AND BEYOND.
- Authors
GEVARYAHU, GILAD J.
- Abstract
The article offers author's insights on the root gimmel-resh-ayin (g-r-a) which means "to subtract from." He cites three cases of legal plea from the daughters of Zelophehad, the tribe of Manasseh, and a group of Israelites, which all three cases uses the verb g-r-a and illustrates the right of a group to keep intact as in the ancient legal principle. He also discusses the other uses of g-r- in the bible.
