This article discusses electronic publishing software developer Quark's acquisition of A Lowly Apprentice Production Inc. (ALAP), developer of extension technologies for application software in the graphic design and publishing industries in the U.S. Industry analysts are in agreement that the move is a strategic one for Quark, and it offers customers the prospect of additional features in QuarkXPress Version 7 application software. ALAP also makes extensions for Quark rival Adobe Systems Inc.'s InDesign and Acrobat software.
