- Abstract
The article reports on the U.S. failure to amend the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), as implemented by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and outlines the act's successes and failures. Topics include overview of regulations formulated by the U.S. Congress in the 1970s to regulated commercial chemicals, the TSCA Chemical Substance Inventory and risk reporting by chemical manufacturers, and ignorance of nanotechnology by the TSCA. Green chemistry is also discussed.
