- Title
Topical antibiotic treatment of acute uncomplicated otitis externa.
- Authors
Giles, Billy; Rutka, John
- Abstract
The article presents views of otologists Billy Giles and John Rutka about the use of topical antibiotic treatment of acute uncomplicated otitis externa (AUOA). Giles believes that AUOA is caused by bacterial infection thus it needs antimicrobial treatment. Giles prefers the use of antibiotic over steroids because infections are caused by the inflammation. Rutka argues that acidifying solutions and antiseptics can also be used as alternative to antibiotics.
