- Abstract
The article presents a study on the importance of adequate supply of oxygen in neurons to prevent hypoxia. Oxygen plays an important role in the survival and proper function of eukaryotic cells in which these cells use to develop a protective mechanism against hypoxia. The study shows that the increase of hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1), a transcription factor of the basic helix-loop-helix family that protects cells from hypoxia, levels are responsible for hypoxia-related defects in axon.
